At 16, I celebrated the publication of Through the Cheer Bows and Camera Lens by hosting an author event at Woodstock Public Library. What began as a book launch became an opportunity to connect my writing with the people and community it was created to inspire.
I participated in planning and promoting the event, prepared the author experience, spoke with attendees about my journey, signed books, interacted with readers, and helped create an environment centered on confidence, storytelling, and finding your voice.
The experience taught me that being an author extends beyond writing. It also requires communication, preparation, professionalism, audience engagement, and the confidence to stand behind your work.
