Mentoring Future Knights
Being a River Ridge cheerleader has given me the opportunity to support younger athletes who hope to one day represent our school. Through the River Ridge Junior Knights program, I worked with 6th- and 7th-grade cheerleaders as they developed their skills, confidence, teamwork, and school spirit.
I helped encourage the girls as they practiced and learned more about cheerleading while also sharing what I have learned through my own experience. I enjoyed being someone they could ask questions, learn from, and look to for encouragement. Working with younger cheerleaders reminded me that becoming part of a high-school program starts long before the first high-school practice.
What makes Junior Knights meaningful to me is the connection between generations of River Ridge cheerleaders. These girls are future Knights, and having the opportunity to encourage them has shown me another side of leadership. It is not only about representing my school today—it is also about helping the students coming behind me feel welcomed, prepared, and excited about what comes next.
