Volunteering at Woodstock Nursing Home gave me the opportunity to spend time with senior residents and serve a different generation within my community. Through conversation, activities, and simply being present, I learned how meaningful it can be to give someone your time and attention.
This experience showed me a quieter side of leadership. Leadership is not always standing in front of a group or organizing an event. Sometimes it means sitting beside someone, listening to their stories, sharing a smile, and making sure they know that someone cares.
Serving at the nursing home helped me appreciate the importance of connecting across generations. It reminded me that community service is ultimately about people and that something as simple as giving your time can make someone's day a little brighter.
