During my summer internship with the Georgia Kangaroos through Cherokee County, I had the opportunity to experience what it takes to help manage game-day operations behind the scenes. I was responsible for coordinating game-day activities, supporting ticket sales, and helping make sure fans and guests had a positive experience.
I also supported the team’s social media efforts by helping share game-day content, updates, and highlights with the community. This gave me the opportunity to combine several of my interests—leadership, communication, sports, and working with people—in a real-world environment.
This experience taught me how much preparation and teamwork happen behind the scenes of a sporting event. I learned to communicate with different people, handle responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, solve problems as they came up, and step in wherever I was needed. Most importantly, the internship gave me an opportunity to grow as a young leader while gaining hands-on experience outside of the classroom.
