Lights, camera, action! As a morning news anchor for KNN (Knights News Network), I help keep the River Ridge High School community informed through school news, announcements, interviews, and special features. What started as an opportunity to be in front of the camera has become one of my favorite parts of my high school experience.
Being an anchor has taught me that good communication is about much more than speaking clearly. It means being prepared, understanding your audience, working with a team, adapting when things do not go as planned, and making sure the information you share is accurate and engaging. I have also gained experience behind the scenes through writing, editing, interviewing, and learning more about the production process.
Over the years, KNN has helped me become a more confident speaker and communicator while giving me a way to connect with my school community. Every broadcast reminds me that using my voice is not only about being heard; it is also about helping others stay informed, included, and connected.
