Public Speaking

I have learned that finding your voice is one thing, but having the confidence to use it is something you have to practice. Public speaking has given me opportunities to do both.

Over the years, I have spoken in classrooms, competed in speech and oratorical competitions, presented on topics that matter to me, and learned how to stand in front of an audience and communicate with confidence. Each experience has challenged me in a different way. I have learned how to research and organize my thoughts, think about the people I am speaking to, handle nervousness, and communicate a message in a way that feels authentic to me.

Some of my favorite speaking experiences have allowed me to explore topics such as confidence, courage, leadership, history, and issues affecting our communities. I have also learned that being a strong speaker is not about having the loudest voice or saying everything perfectly. It is about knowing what you want to say, understanding why it matters, and having the courage to share it.

Public speaking has become an important part of my journey as a communicator and leader. With every speech, presentation, and competition, I continue to become more confident in my voice and more intentional about how I use it to inform, encourage, and connect with others.

- Mill Creek Oratorical Club → I discovered competitive speaking.

- High School Competitions → I continued challenging myself as a speaker.

- Georgia State SCOM 1500 → I studied public speaking at the college level.

Learn the Skill → Practice the Skill → Compete → Advocate → Earn Recognition → Build a Body of Work
